This is a custom made trailer for carrying and re-charging portable airfield light fittings.  Based on the high quality Ifor Williams BV26 base trailer ALS fully customised it to contain 80 charging points over four secure electrically protected racks.

Lights

The trailer has capacity for 80 Polaris portable lights. Polaris units are lightweight, durable, waterproof and has been developed for fast deployment by non-skilled operators and will operate in the worst environmental conditions.

All the units are equipped with high power LEDs, matched by dedicated optics to drastically increase photometric performances, save on power consumption and reduce life cycle costs. Autonomy depends on the operating mode, the level of light and number of LEDs. The Running time is from 14 hours (full power, steady, RWE omni-directional) up to 24 days (low power, flashing, APP). It has two flashing modes, continuous or flashing. Visibility is 3000m (Visual flight rules) or 1500m (special flight rules)

Power

The Trailer has been fitted with two forms of internal lighting Mains powered and 12v DC power.

• The Mains operated Batten Light fitted to the roof of the trailer is controlled via two light switches, one at each entrance. This can be operated when the trailer is connected to the Mains supply via the IEC309 Inlet  32A 230vV 2P+E IP67 Connector.
• There are two LED 12V operated Light fitted above both entrance doors with their own on/off switch.

These light will be active when the Trailer is connected to the vehicle towing it.
